Each year, The Joint Commission publishes standards for healthcare organizations and National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG). Until this year, the Joint Commission included prevention of falls and use of fall-prevention program among the NPSG for hospital settings. As of 2010, fall prevention and fall-prevention programs have been added to the Commission’s standards for healthcare organizations.
